[Discussion] CONFIGURING AND BUILDING THE KERNEL

I'm just building my first kernel and followed the install document http://www.web100.org/download/kernel/2.5.5/Install.web100

I have hit a problem at the point of configuring and building the Kernel at this part: -

# cd /usr/src/linux
# cp .config config.save

 

I type cp .config config.save but comes back with the error `.config': No such file or directory, this is my directory listing: -

 

arch     CREDITS  Documentation  fs       init  kernel  MAINTAINERS  mm   README          scripts   sound
COPYING  crypto   drivers        include  ipc   lib     Makefile     net  REPORTING-BUGS  security  usr

 

I'm running RH9 with linux-2.6.13

Any help is very much appreciated
